So why Nau (pronounced now), because now is the time for you to make a difference. The group who started Nau had a vision of “blending beauty, performance, and sustainability.” Their goal is to use as many sustainable resources as possible as well as to “make better products”. The fabrics they use include 100% organic cotton, 100% recycled polyester, and 100% recycled down to name a few. They say they make the product better by building garments that are versatile and lasting to reduce manufacturing. Ensuring their manufacturer’s follow the Nau standard, they work with businesses that are verified with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the Organic Cotton Standard (OCS), Global Recycled Standard (GRS), and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). Aside from being an ethical sustainable brand, they are also philanthropic. 2% of every sale is donated to Partners for Change, these proceeds go to various organizations that protect wild lands water ways in North America, provide the ability for individuals and communities transform their lives, and reducing the green footprint people leave by supplying bicycles to communities.

They are made in the USA and are cut sewn and dyed in Los Angeles. Their tag line is, “we make clothes for people”, their clothing is universal “tailored to fit me, women, and those in- between equally. No gender, gender-neutral, unisex etcetera”. One of the many great things about this company is, they naturally dye pieces. By utilizing natural dyes, the garments are free from heavy metals, salts, and toxins. They provide some awesome informative information regarding the natural dyes, when you have time I highly recommend looking at their process page. Our next brand is Outerknown, and they have the head covered, along with the rest of you. They are also trying to cover the earth. The brand was founded by surfer Kelly Slater and designer John Moore. Kelly traveled the world and explored every ocean and didn’t like what he was finding, pollution. During his travels as pro surfer Kelly Slater states, he would come across massive plastic waste and other pollution that are devastating the oceans and the creatures within. The brands mission as Kelly states, “we created Outerknown to smash the formula. To lift the lid on the traditional supply chain and prove you can actually produce great looking menswear in a sustainable way.” The brand set to change how apparel is made and the impact their brand makes on our environment and those who reside in it. They are a company that is transparent; this can be seen in their list of all the ethical businesses used to produce their goods. They are sustainable; they produce garments with ECONYL; a textile made from angler’s nets that would otherwise devastate ocean life and they use recycled plastic from business that obtained it from the ocean. As a brand, they made a conscience decision to promote ethical practices as evident in their code of conduct and Fair Trade practice, which help to ensure the people making the goods are treated and paid fairly. The amazing stuff this brand stands for goes on and on, but don’t take my word for it check it yourself. Outerknown
